Basically they have to index a lot of documents from a lot of sources, so they make various connectors.

Their Lotus Notes connector actually has to run it in a separate process, monitor it, and restart it when it crashes.

Because their API uses exit() to handle errors. Any kind of error.

This is actually much worse than no armor, because it means the armor forms a sharp edge, and any hit almost anywhere in the general region of the chest pushes that sharp "cleavage" edge against a vulnerable region (solar plexus and such).

The difference between the average (inserting in the middle) and the worst case (inserting at the beginning) is a constant factor of 2. @QPaysTaxes you dynamic_cast with every potential type everywhere... it is terrible and should not be done. Make a virtual void do_the_right_thing(); and don't bother with finding the dynamic type
