In your own screenshot you can see Libraries with the same names (under "Libraries"). It's those that you see in Win7, alone, and can be turned off by disabling Libraries. This list of actual folders you're moaning about is not there in Windows 7.

@melak47 Of course the folders have always existed - they predate Libraries by some 20 years

(in one form or another)

However, the list of folders is not there in Win7. There is a tree node for your user folder, and a list of Favourites, and Computer; you have to browse into any of those to actually find Documents/Pictures/etc
