@Abyx Depends entirely on the context. It is prone to UB, and we don't know whether it is. Smells like binary deserialization, if it isn't shared memory. If it is, it wholly depends on what put it there. As long as the cast is to POD then the result would likely be ok (though implementation defined and non-portable, perhaps)
