if you have a business/organization account you can use Meet otherwise you can still use Hangouts but some new users are on a new product... or something

The call-in phone service literally says "Welcome to Hangouts Meet!"

Apparently they changed some of the numbers

I called in the old number I'd been using this morning, which still said "Hangouts Meet"

But if I look at the invitation again, it has two new, different numbers on it, and those say "Welcome to Google Meet"

I don't even know what's up.

Yep, I just created a meeting and called the number, and that's the one I got.

Duo is for making video calls, but I think it's more phone number centric and less Google Account centric than Hangouts was?

@RyanM I'm still waiting on a super app for navigation ever since they took over Waze. You'd think with the combined efforts of Maps and Waze they'd get something going that wouldn't get lost as much.

@Mast I've not gotten lost...I did once get sent down some really narrow, windy back roads due to offline navigation, though...

I knew someone who drove right into a giant pile of dirt (part of a construction zone) by following some kind of mapping app.

Yeah, apparently you're also supposed to watch the road?

A few weeks back I screwed up with Waze. I didn't double-check the route it had planned for a trip and only when I started the trip I knew I was never going to make it on time because the expected time was half an hour shorter than it should've been.

There's always traffic at the same point there at the same time.

The app claims to know things like this and usually does. But I can't work with an app that sometimes doesn't do it without warning on a piece of road that hasn't changed in years with traffic that hasn't changed in years.

So those 2 incidents combined I'm back to navigating myself.

That used to work, it still works, and now I do get on time.

It just takes some effort.

I'd like some guidance from the more experienced people here. this edit: stackoverflow.com/review/suggested-edits/26701248 moving from link only answer to link only answer by a newer user. approve? reject and ping the editing user to post as a new answer with context? Can I do that when the edit isn't approved/rejected yet? flag the answer for deletion as it has link rot?

the answser is from '09, the answerer has been last seen in 2017

My gut feeling says reject and flag for not an answer

Truthfully, if you're going to flag it for deletion, it doesn't really matter whether you approve or reject the edit. Once the post is deleted, any rep or benefit earned from the edit will disappear along with it.

As a moderator, what I'd do is approve the edit, and then convert the link-only answer into a comment (which will have the effect of deleting it, but also preserve the potentially-useful link).

As a user, I'd recommend that you simply flag the answer as "not an answer" and let a moderator deal with it.

As a possibly helpful note: if you approve the edit and flag the answer as NAA, because it has a positive score it will be sent to a mod rather than being deleted outright, who will then have the opportunity to decide. Having a working link is probably more helpful if they want to maybe convert it to a comment.

Which is to say: I'd approve the edit if you think it improves the post. With that one I'm curious if removing the page numbers was correct, but don't feel like checking.

it was a different pdf file I think. as the old file was link rotted so no way to check

the new file might be useful to someone researching this problem

it was at least to the person who edited the answer

@RyanM FWIW That is absolutely useless. I've done that due to a very clearly wrong marker on an address (No idea how that even came to be, but I assume someone just marked it and they just accepted it), and I got a reply that I had to prove it! Despite that is was obviously wrong, their streetview supported my claim and they did not at all account for how an street with a number had ended up around the corner at a completely different street..

@Scratte Ah, that's unfortunate...I've never used it myself since the only incorrect data I've found is wrong lane guidance, and I couldn't figure out how to report it.

It got resolved without me doing anything, though :D

The result is of course that the process undermines the purpose of the map. I do not trust google maps after knowing that they're not open to corrections.

I keep a paper map in my car :) And I have good spacial orientation.. :)

Hi, I'm a new member here. I don't know too much about stack overflow and what the platform can offer, most of the time I'm getting on SO starting with a google search :) On my few questions I posted on SO, I saw that some users are throwing an answer without many explanations and they just ask you to mark that as the correct answer. My questions for moderators is if they can do something about this, or if it is an accepted behavior

@James Yes, moderators will do something about that. It's never acceptable to try to pressure someone into accepting your own answer. If you see such comments, please flag them for moderator attention. "No longer needed" will do.

There isn't much moderators can do about answers that lack explanation. However, you can and should downvote answers that you do not find to be useful/clear.

I know, but with Achaea, you could have triggers defined in cMud, but you'd have to type the person you'd want to target. The harder it is for them to type your name, the longer you live/can counter attack. Even though there is a tab autocomplete, English speaking people tend to type tsh instead of tsch, where I have a 1-2 second advantage

@CodyGray The iPhone 11 fits in my hand (I use my wife's with just my left) and camera is good for the scanning the odd paper. I wear large gloves though so not sure if that helps you out :)

so you can check the console in the safari browser

I tried running mac os in a virtual system

but it doesn't take the iphone due to a bug in the mac os version and needs to be resolved by apple first
