i scrape content all the time

last dataset i got was the public transport api of half of spain

as far as I know, it's not illegal as long you crawl publicly accessible data (not data only accessible by being authenticated)

but if you don't throttle your requests say 2 requests / sec, your crawler/ip risks being flagged as a bot and be prevented from accessing the website

@netpork Very stripped down feature set compared to a pebble, no music control, very few notifications (can't route arbitrary notifications, only supported apps), no support for on-watch apps

Just something that does what it advertises, and doesn't suck at it - my main issue with other smartwatches is that they're just... bad. They claim all sorts of features, and most of it works terribly or not at all

The Steel HR doesn't claim to do much, but it does do what it claims to do well

I'm just concerned about whether they'll be able to do a lot under IBM

Probably if they clone the same model as Dell-EMC, where EMC has a priority in the tech decisions and where VMWare stays independent even under that umbrella

@netpork I've also heard good things about Amazfit Bips - you can flash them with a custom OS to get closer to pebble's feature sets, and the display hardware etc. is also closer

I had a pretty good set up between my previous phones, laptops, pebbles, and some other tech - made it very easy to keep up with all relevant information from emails, chats, websites, alerting bots, etc.

The pebble really held it all together, removing that from the picture dialed it down a lot
