@Raghav can you give me some noob pointers on securing my DO server? I think it's currently free ssh access for anyone who has the IP

Use ssh keys for auth, don't use passwords

Run an OS from the last 5 years

Make sure your openssh/sshd install is up to date

That's really all about it

You'll find guides that tell you to switch ssh from port 22 to another, or set up things like fail2ban, but it is overkill unless someone is dosing you via ssh log ins

If you really want to go pro, you would set up a jump instance, which is the only instance the outside world can connect to, secure SSH on that with totp or duo or some 2fa, and then only allow that instance to connect to the rest of your infra

@MuratKaragöz that's nice! But what do you mean work? (Mine was nice as well, went out for dinner with colleagues on friday and Saturday, and went to discover the carnival with Eric on Sunday and stayed home all day yesterday doing house cleaning laundry etc.. )

You really shouldn't need to do anything special if you set it up using the DO templates, and provided an ssh key

At best, create a non-root, sudo enabled user for your day to day work

And disable log in as root

And maybe DO also provides security groups where you can't ssh from addresses different than the ones you set on the config

What I do on Amazon is either I give 5 Stars, or 1 Star - since they are the only reviews which are relevant

What is the right way to deal with a situation where the old class library (Date/Calendar) is deprecated in the new target API level, and the new API (LocalDate) requires a higher minimum target API level?

Do I outsource all date magic in two private functions, one old and one new, and annotate them? Is that how it works?

Not Calendar itself, but everything of "Date". I want to store a user's birthday in JSON, and I'm really sad this took 15 minutes of research effort on how to do it.

Usually I'd say "have a Date field, store the birthday, save it to Json, restore it from Json, voilà". But apparently that's not how it's supposed to work.
