hmm...I've never seen that

but then most of the videos I watch are like ~5-10 mins

and often the next suggested video isn't something I'm interested in so I return to the home page to find something else.

i dont know how many minutes it takes to auto pause but its a pretty large value possibly more than 50 mins

if you could use a custom view you could run arbitrary code in the notification bar or home screen

the way it is designed makes it so the system is passing messages from the notification/widget to your app process

I once made a widget before that allowed you to enter text into it, it was done by opening an invisible activity that opened the keyboard and passed the character input back to the widget so it could update the text box
