@ManofOneWay I grew up in East Germans. I only got the Deutsche Mark later in my life, and never got so much attached to it. Also, pulling out your wallet and pay with the same money in foreign countries is certainly a big advantage.

@CatPlusPlus No, I wasn't looking for it. I hadn't mislaid it, after all. When we were teens, having your first gf/bf would be "to go with someone". I'm still attached to that phrase.
@TonyTheLion Considering how much the government has gotten into the habit of treating its own citizens as criminals, I don't foresee it treating visitors much better.
@JerryCoffin it's fairly off putting as a tourist, that when you get off the plane, the first thing you have to do is deal with a grumpy immigration officer, whom doesn't really want to let you in, and is trying very hard to find a reason not to.
@Insilico No, that's not true. See, I actually spent a few months (8, in fact) in the US. I was traveling some of them, working others, and stayed in motels, youth hostels, and family homes. From that, I conclude that there is some truth to this whole thing, and it applies to the people, not the government they elect. (In fact, your almost proverbial hate for your own government is just another reason the rest of the world shakes their heads about you.)
@Insilico A few, I'm afraid. For that matter I live only a few miles from the "New Life Church" (the one whose pastor, after years of lambasting gays and drug users was, a few years ago, dismissed after being caught with a gay prostitute, and in possession of some illegal substances).
@Cicada IME, there is an incredibly huge difference between Americans who have lived abroad (and be it only 6 months in Canadada), and those who had never left the country (except for two-week holidays, that is). I'm not sure leaving the country is the reason for the difference, but there certainly is a very strong correlation.
@DeadMG you'll know when you have someone that really wants to help get you a job, cause they'll make a very decent attempt at getting you at least an interview, and they'll generally be fairly fast about it
@Cicada No, that's not true. I haven't found this correlation anywhere in Western Europe. (And if there was such a correlation in the few parts of Eastern Europe I have seen, it's the opposite.)
A lot of the people who work abroad are people like university students or faculty, who by virtue of being at a university are smarter than the typical citizen (at least here in the States)
@sbi Well I have! All the people I know that have lived abroad (abroad as in, not Europe) are much more open minded and, somehow "smart" than the rest.
@Cicada His faithful followers reacted as usual: with denial. They (I'm not making this up) came up with half a dozen (or so) people "prayed intensively" over him for a month or so, and then pronounced him "cured".

@sbi Well, Europe is overall pretty rich except for the silly Poland. I think living in a developing country (South America, Asia) is much more enriching for personal experience. Just my point of view.
@Cicada I never figured out exactly what to find it. The idea that being gay is some sort of disease struck me as idiotic. Believing they could change it seemed utterly delusional.
@CatPlusPlus That's bullshit. Of course, if you have studied, you have proven a few intellectual abilities. Anyone who studied is much more likely to have an higher IQ then anyone who didn't.
@Cicada Not consciously, though. Conscious cheating is, thus far, only know from a few primates, from dolphins, crows (and similar species), and from a few species of octopuses and sepia.

I was wondering how does one implement checking for end() - say a regular iterator is being incremented continually - at some time, that iterator will end up being equal to the end. How does one do that?
@Specksynder Thanks -- and no, not a whole lot. A bit hard to breathe for a few days, but fortunately I live far enough away that I never had to evacuate (barely far enough away -- people about two miles from me were evacuated).
@CatPlusPlus, how does one invalidate iterators then? They have already been initialized and returned to clients - should the vector hold references to all the iterators it has ever returned, just so it could invalidate them at some point?
@Specksynder No -- you're just not allowed to use the iterator when it's invalid. Keeping track of its validity is up to you (or you use another container that won't invalidate it).
@Specksynder As long as the specific iterator you're using remains valid, you can use it. The exact conditions that invalidate an iterator vary by container.
