@Code-Apprentice you can use LiveData for retrieval.

@Raghunandan yah, I plan to learn all about LiveData this weekend.

For now I'm just doing new Thread(){//blah blah} for insert and will probably do that for delete, too. Much less code to write this way than creating an AsyncTask.

and at least for now, I don't care about the returned result...although that will probably need to change in the future.

yeah. use livedata for retrieval and our own thread for insertion

so if your data changes you are notified with livedata

I guess LiveData can be used for update, too, right?
