Hi buddies! I have encountered this phenomena for a 2nd time now, so I think I should share/ask. Is it now a common thing to confuse Google Hangouts with meet.google.com? Why some people use the first as a name for the latter? I've checked what's in there and it seems there's no connection between them really, that is, one is not a superset of the other, nor are they interoperable in any way…

Well I expected that to some extent, but not from people who are supposed to interview programmers :D

and these things are not exactly competing AFAIK, as they do partially different things

(this is still stupid that they didn't just add some functionality to hangouts instead)

It's probably just because it's relatively new, and the people using it, while possibly smart, may just not be familiar enough with this stuff to care about differentiating yet

there's no occurrence of "hangouts" word in there, though, but this could be a possible reason anyway I guess

Maybe deep down, they just want to be friends and hangout with you
