Java has a few really helpful tools that JS only recently got (like mocks, jest & ineeda have them now)

testing for old school compiled languages is still so much better, though :(

I hate that in Java, I have to make some fields/methods public just so I can test them, so it kind of removes the whole point of public vs private

using groovy to write the java tests alleviates some of the pain, but not all of it

Take your pick. Antiquated technologies, I'm not specialized in just web dev and wear three hats right now. I haven't even had a weekend to really work on trying to modernize my skillsets.

Though I finally got them to upgrade to VS 2015 as of three weeks ago.

So that's been actually making life somewhat easier.

@ssube That was part of the stress the last couple months. I basically had to go through our old code, and update it so that it worked in 2015.

Well, that and our camera module stuff changed every time I blinked and required drastic re-writes.

I'm taking it easy today. Bosses are out, I have to teleconferences for the whole day. I'm just doing some testing on some new web products to verify that they're air tight.

But I am curious why you seem reluctant to move out of state

@SomeKittens Mostly the fact that I haven't found anything else. It's been really hard for me to get a developer job. Mostly I think due to the lack of an actual degree, the fact all my original work is classified while in the military, and then I was out of the developer game for almost four years after the military while trying to get a job.
