shell_exec() is arguably the simplest program execution function, whatever your problem is there's a reasonable chance that it can be solved with a more complex API

@getl0st It solves a problem, solves it well, and you can do almost anything you (as an author of a blog or maintainer of a simple website) would want with one or two plugins.

@getl0st mainly because you know how to architecture, and that frameworks are almost all forcing bad architecture design, oop practices and programming practices down your throat
I'm on a call right now talking about a 2 month project built on Laravel and the team lead's plan is to "Make a class to abstract the API". I'm completely f*cked.
