specifically in this case I'd say the edit was justified, since the OP does not appear to use numpy, though he should've commented that to the OP and let him decide. That's also give you the notion of whether the OP wants to use it or not.
@cimmanon no, it doesn't, but often I hear "numpy is the jquery of python", meaning "all sorts of crap is being solved with numpy when there's no mention of it and it's not even necessary"
to be clear, I love numpy and that's what I always use when I use python
but still, OP's concern is exactly the tag removal, making his numpy answer partially uncalled-for
while with the (formerly superfluous) tag it was reasonable to give a numpy-based answer without any explanations and apologies
I'd still say the answer's not uncalled for, only when, as @AndrasDeak commented, OP specifically does not want to use numpy. Otherwise using a free and well documented official module seems fine to me

@Adriaan yes, and he probably does, since they import * from numpy (which is a really stupid thing to do, even if you do use some things in the module)

I think using one equal sign is to declare a variable while two equal signs is for a comparison condition and lastly three equal signs is for comparing values of declared variables.
The point here is that, sometimes our dupe attempt failed for basic questions because there is no exact dupe... yet... But well, you could argue that you can find it in other language. It is kind of weak argument IMHO though. Because an operator in one language is not necessarily translated identically to other language. Take SQL equal comparison for example, it uses single = while some other programming languages use double ==

@Kyll Prediction: heavy downvoting and snide comments. If you link to an example question that's open, it will be closed in minutes. Then reopened and closed again. Eventually an employee will post the answer, "that's off topic, regardless of the technology or industry, because it's impossible to give an authoritative answer, therefore it's too broad." Everyone will remember your question, and you'll need to go around with a bag over your head for the rest of your life.

Today's a slow day; the weekends always are. But the fact that Closey has tracked 25% of the day's close votes to us indicates that more votes in the hands of people willing to use them makes a difference. (Most users don't use any.)
@Drew I've been seeing the same on cv-pls requests. For the first few days after the first cv, there is a review item in the question's timeline. By the time they are 2 or 3 days old though, that review item is gone. Therefore, those won't show up in the queue for casual closers.
close is left with only closed questions. We will need to discuss what to do with those, but there are no more opened questions. We can remove it from SEDE.
Script update: the Smokey reports userscript should work again soon (6-8 something). I'm waiting for @Undo to pull the newest metasmoke build when he's on a decent connection, and then it'll work.
@ArtOfCode preferably only reports for Q/A on the current SE site. If that's too difficult, I'd appreciate a sort based on SE site (with the current on top if possible)
