that's over 20k lines of Java code in my baseball card app...and 44% of that is source, 48% comments, 8% blank lines.

Een, for a price that low, I'd argue you're better off offering it for free, showing ads, and offering In-Apps for premium features / no ads.

99 cents is going to make you diddly-squat. The barrier for people actually buying apps on Android is massively high.

free usually means more downloads, if you can get your ad fill-rate up you'll probably make a little more off the ads, than you would if you sold the app for 99 cents and only got a few users.

say you got 10k free downloads and 2000-3000 users using it per month, with the right ad network you could probably get $30-$40/m off those users. If you offered the app for 99 cents I don't think you'll get more than 30-40 downloads a month, so you'll make less after Google's cut.

That's been my experience, anyway. Someone else might have a different experience

First you need to think, is this something someone should pay for? Are there better free ones? Then go into thinking about what to do, if the ads aren't obtrusive you can make it free and if you want add and in app purchase to remove them.

I think more things should be free and ad powered

though in my ideal world the whole concept behind marketing would not exist at all

I'd like to see Play and AppStore have proper trialling or demo features for paid aps to remove the hurdle. So you don't end up with all this garbage "MyApp Lite"
