How does expression tree converted to native query, I was thinking the magic happens in he side of Expression code, But I don't understand how the parts of expression converted to SQL code, also how the same expression code translated to native provider code, whether it's SQL, Oracle, etc
@MohamedElshawaf Obviously someone wrote LINQ to SQL, LINQ to AD, etc, so obviously it's doable. It's a matter of writing code (a lot of code) that receives Expressions, reads them, and constructs queries in whatever language you need from them.
SSMS isn't exactly like VS. VSCode isn't a replacement to VS for most (non-Web developer) users. But the features OperationsStudio have will be more than enough for 90% of the uses of SSMS.
I feel like ditching tools have become pretty common. Can't count the number of things Google have tried and then slowly just let die. Same goes for Microsoft. I think companies are quicker to let a tool go if it isn't immediately successful.
@WilliamMariager Not necessarily a bad thing. If a tool you've written isn't as good as a publicly available one, there's no point in hanging on to it just for NIH's sake, especially if it's not your core business.

Microsoft has been relying more and more on Newtonsoft JSON.NET, despite having their own JSON lib, in JavaScriptSerializer. Why? Because it's better. Much better. Better performance, better features and more familiar to devs.
So they made a conscious choice to de-emphasize the in-house tool. embrace the 3rd party tool, hopefully contribute to it (with bug reports, at the very least, maybe suggested bug fixes or (I hope) financial contributions to James Newton-King who keeps the JSON flowing.
They're making a lot of good decisions lately with the whole C# universe. Open sourcing large parts of it, embracing community suggestions more and things like this where they use 3rd party libraries.

@SebastianL To avoid a ***-load of logic. I'm creating several mappers and based on 1 condition I want to change 1 little part. Otherwise I get a lot of code to be involved. Now I can just create a new method, execute the existing behavior, remove a mapping, add a new mapping for it (so, replace it) and I'm done.
No I'm not using profiles. Do you know that feeling that 1 technical problem is because there are a bunch of other design related problems? Maybe things are just not set up the way it should've been :D
I already fixed it in the meantime (with an ugly boolean argument) but want to share the case anyway.
We have matches (1 versus 1 game matches) that have a challenger and someone who is being challenged. When mapping, we translate this to me/opponent. This is where it get's challenging (ha-ha). When the same logged in user checks his or her match in the context of a tournament, the me/opponent logic is gone.
Using AutoMapper, If you create an "empty" mapping, it will map every property that has the same name and type. So, simple logic. If you create your own mapper, how can you access that kind of logic? I do not want to specify
If I'm mapping from X to Z, and then call AutoMapper to map from X to Z, we all know what happens. So In my custom mapping from X to Z I want to call some AutoMapper code that does it for me
I can do it manually with Reflection, but I don't think it's the best idea to do it myself. And I also don't think that I'm the first one out there. Even though Googling doesn't give me answers yet

Does anyone know if execution is faster by creating one MemoryStream and using MemoryStream.Write in a loop vs creating a new MemoryStream each time in a loop? I would think that garbage collection would happen more often creating a new memory stream each time, but I am not sure if MemoryStream.Write would also cause that?
