why does the first syntax of functionA fails?

a variable name must available to creating anonymous type, in order to accessing variable.

example:
       var _strin = "oh"; var _int = 5;
       var anony = new {_strin , _int};
       anony._strin is string;
       anony._int is int;

And if you just want a snapshot you simply ToList it.
