It hasn't been automated yet to automatically determine the width. But that 7.5% is basically from having 12 columns

Currently where I work there are two solutions. One solution for back end stuff, one for front end stuff. Each consists of several projects. The back end solution never utilizes any projects from the fronend. I agree having seperate solutions helps ensure we never accidentally reference a frontend library/project from a backend library and dirty the backend's encapsulation

Main problem though is often when modifying the backend I have to compile that solution, then compile the other solution so it picks up those changes

Since there is no way to create cross-solution build dependencies(at least on the developer machine, we have it automated on the build server)

it sounds like your front end solution is tightly coupled to your back end solution

you should fix that issue

It would seem the "other solution" contains controller code which probably references the "backend" service layer.

At least to me

separate solution should = separate dlls

separate dlls = no need for tight coupling

I have a question

I'm switching from Session to memcache

and I want everycontroller to be able to get the user data , i'm just storing the in a cookie

So where could I get this from memcache , I was thinking of a base controller and storing it there , or adding an action filter to get user data from cache , or maybe in the controller factory

@ScottSelby In a server farm environment, we have a session state server so that when you are retrieving session information, it is retrieved from the session server. So even if the user's request is served by different servers in the cluster, they are all getting session information from the shared sessions erver

Maybe not an option in your case, but something to consider

that way your code the deals with sessions can stay the same and be decoupled from the mechanism that backs it
