@JasonC I can see both points of view. The way that your original message reads, there is an implied request. It's quite possible that you were only interested in getting other people's opinions, but it could be read either way. Perhaps wording it less like a request and more like you are just interested in other people's opinions would have been helpful, along with explicitly disclosing that you had posted an answer.

It might also be a good idea to wait for the OP to have visited SO after you posted your comment to them, so there was at least the possibility of them seeing that comment and replying. You can also try pinging the person who dup-hammered the question to discuss with them why you feel it is not a duplicate.

The ketchup is dehydrated when it is layered on the burger.

When applied to the burger, it absorbs the juices from the burger to become moist but not straight up ketchupy.
