in js what's the best way to check if variables is truthy if it might not exist? typeof variableName !== 'undefined' && variableName ? for example in php you can do !empty($variableName)

Hmm, would like some input here. Working on a codepen and I have a problem with the `background-image` (think it only works in webkit-browsers).
The problem is, that the image is positioned a little bit different from the `body` backgrround. I think I can solve this in two ways:
1. Make the `hithere` div 100% width and height of the whole window (just like the body) and by that the background-image of the text should be placed correct.
2. See if I can make it (maybe with JS or jQuery) that the div is only visible on the parts where the white divs are behind it.

because the background-image of the text is a bit offset in comparison of the background-image of the body (because I use vh and vw), you can already see the text before the white bars move in

that was what I first thought to do, but then I found out you can put a background image on text :) But in basic, I should use the text as a clipping mask for the white areas?

I have a doubt....I am trying to develop a game. I am struck b/w the concept of pixels, world units, aspect ratio.....it saw that ipad air has 2048 x 1536 resolution....aspect ratio for it would be 1.33333333333 same is for 800 x600 i.e. 1.3333333333

I have read that a 800 x 600 res image would look good on ipad air as well because it has same aspect ratio
