See what i am trying to achieve is I should have a card view and in that card view I should place the list header and list item. I have to do this for 3 lists.. So three card views... @AshuKumar

If it is possible to switch parents of the list item in runtime.. I would atleast inflate 3 card views in Adapter separately. Have a reference to it.. and when the particular item is at a particular lists position.. I will add add that view to the inflated card view

Is it possible?

@AshuKumar See your solution is a problem.. If i do as you suggested. I will not receive item position when touched... You are asking me to inflate a card view as header with text(which is view-1) and if i need to add the list item to the card view i can update the text view inside it as you said. but i will not receive the position when touched. when ever i make a touch it just gives the position of the cardview and no the list items.I hope you understand :)

Everyone is suggesting a library.. but i don't ant to use any... I don't think its much difficult..

@AshuKumar But what will be the item position if i have only one view (cardVIew) in total for a particular list? what will the click return? the position of the card view. as the only view i will return from getViewType is a card view(where text view is placed inside). adapter views will send a position on which item is actually clicked. it doesnt know the text view inside it..

I can place a on touch listener on the text view though. but getting the position will return only the card views position

@RaajaSN you did not tell it , may be you tag the position of item to TextView and it will have position in tag so your ontouch will work
