@Katherina imho you need to visit 4 places: the brandenburger tor (if possible get also into the hilten hodel and watch that cool elivator), the old wall which divides the city, the sony center (just be cause it looks great, there is also a tower where you can get up to get a quiet good overview of the city for very low money) and the bundestag

Is it possible to send data between activities without using Intent? I want to create a "settings" activity and send data back to my "main menu" activity but I don't want to create an entirely new activity.

however I would prefer using shared preferences since they will been accessible even if you app restarts or crashs

that's not a problem, it's not a rocket science. I felt very easy when I learned it for first time.

however you must learn minimum things in order to make use of sqlite db in android. Almost every android app uses it.
