unless you are aliasing the globalVar with a different name in the closure

(and I'm just talking about passing the argument, obviously I know there's point to the closure itself)

@DaveRandom there is, because you're often using other local variables to the function, even if you affect the global variable too

   var a = 1;
    $ = a + 2;
}(jQuery));

example ^

you're technically stealing if he didn't license it out to them

there might be a loophole because it's open sourced, but if it's the same exact code and the guy isn't getting credited, I think what they're doing is not allowed
