hmm, there is no point debating here basic viewpoints of certain decades - I neither support, decry, not care about the practice one way or another. if the company gives you gift cards (for Christmas, or anything else), OF COURSE it is taxed. (Obviously, the company may cover the tax themselves. But it's taxed.) Regarding if another employee personally gives you something .. first of all, that would be utterly bizarre (what employee would pay for gift cards from their own pocket?) .. secondly .. It is rude but like it is rude to insult someone that just punched you, an insult is rude by definition. I think what @thursdaysgeek meant is just that the other employee will feel insulted by being the only one not invited, whether the OP cares about it is up to him. — Echox 13 mins ago
