A: Passing a cv2 frame from view to template

TheoretiCALI would suggest base64 encoding the frame and passing that string. That way you can pass the dynamically generated image from the views to the result.html to render. This looks great, but I get that corrupted image icon when i run my server. Thanks, I'll look into fixing the while loop too that was kind of temporary as well. Added my results.html to post
Try adding a print of frame_b64 so you get the data that is supposed to represent the image. Then put it into an online decoder such as codebeautify.org/base64-to-image-converter to see if the base64 was generated correctly.
@Theo I updated the frame_b64 = base64.encodestring(frame_buff) line, as well as made sure the encoding matched the html (both jpg). Try that out. I've also linked another reference for you.
Hmm I have been playing around, but that new encodestring causes an error : TypeError at / expected 1-D data, not 2-D data from ndarray
Interesting, looks like we need to keep the b64encode. What does the frame_b64 output for you?
When I try to print it in the html, the spots where {{img}} is has no string at all... very weird maybe im doing something wrong, but mine does look exactly like the current edit

@Theo try printing it in the view.py, does something show up? This output will appear in the terminal where you are running the server.

Good idea okay thanks. for the record i decoded my image here and checked onthe other site and it worked
so something must be decoding incorrectly
good to know, so just the lines of decoding are spitting out the wrong base64
ohh ok so there were a few leading characters in the string that my code printed it

if i remove those its the correct code
like it wraps the code in b'<b64code>'
so i havee to remove the b''

so i'm looking up how to trim off the wrapping parts and see if that works. im kind of confused about where it decodes again but i was going to see what happens

just a heads up, thats just python syntax letting you know the string is encoded. the b is not part of the string (not sure if you know that)

kind of. i'm just testing around and getting familiar with django + deploying apps for a job
good luck in the future, also as per my note, if you want to update the images in realtime
you will want to use AJAX if your processing the webcam server side, or else in JS you can access the webcam
I feared AJAX would be involved, i'm still so new but i will definitely keep it in mind and get to it!
