Germans can generally understand dialect Dutch but not regular Dutch

Like 'Tasse' means 'cup' or such in German, while it means 'bag' in Dutch

So you get stuff like "Zwei mädchen, ein Tasse"

Which is an extremly odd title in Holland

for a moment I had hoped that by learning german I'd be able to converse with Dutch people as well :D

You may be able to understand the eastern living ones a little

most dutchies speak english

I just hoped that the scope of the german language was a bit larger, that would have been my biggest motivation to start learning :D
