Yes

It creates hard to read, hard to debug, hard to maintain code

Alternative is Rx and Future things, right? But, isn't it same? In callbacks, its caller's responsibility to provide a listener. And, in Rx or Future, its target method's responsibility to give result back.

It's less about how it works, and more about how readable the resulting code is

well i'm half lying, it's not a "ban", but it's implicitly one. you have to register as electrical industrial producer, pay electrical services pruduction tax (20% to 40% of the generated power * power cost that day) , and pay to the electrical company 50% of the amount of electricity you are not buying to them.

that data is probably also skewed because the "ban" only applies to electrical generating photovoltaic panels, not to water heating

a friend of mine had 70% of his energy from solar panels, got a 500€ invoice the first month of this law, plugged off the distributor to his house, took a chainsaw and cut the power cords to it.

they can detect the panels?

they run inspections, and companies are allowed to do inspetions on their own

they can also detect energy input to the network if you don't have a closed system configured

my current building has communal solar panels to heat water

we had to have them shut down between 2015 to this january

when EU forced spain to allow heated water panels to not pay the "indemnization Sun tax" and the bank that owns our building allowed the maintenance team to power them

· A connection study must be made and paid to the electric company (facilities under 10kW are exempt from paying it).
· Charges are made for self-consumption, both for the power (if batteries are used) and for the energy…

point 1) of the law is abusive, point 2 and 3 are reasonably okay, point 4 is literally theft, and point 5 is gunpoint theft.

and all mixed make the combined super power ranger of "people with solar panels had to shut them down before law started or they faced death by tax".

the main point is spain is focused on a mixed cycle network of Diesel/Gas/Carbon, and most of the money is on that, so big companies don't want to loose their investments and force the government to block self consumption laws

Is there a way to know whether my Activity is visible? I thought that triggering stuff onPause and onUserLeaveHint would catch pretty much everything but... it doesn't seem to? I can hit the Home button and my app closes but one of the processes I stop in both those handlers keeps chugging away in the background, getting location updates and burning through battery.

I thought maybe checking for getActivity().hasWindowFocus() would do it, but no, that seems to be false a lot of the time.
