have you tried with getSpeed? You could skip the ones that return 0 if you get them at a fast enough rate

also I found that the nr of satellites changes rapidly for little reason. E.g. I get 1 location, and I'll get 20 callbacks for satellite changes, varying in nr from 0 to like 6

so I still have no clue regarding the actual nr

but that's another thing :D

it's very difficult to get an accuracy speed based on 2 locations alone

for what it's worth, this is what I use

it's not uncommon to get high accuracy values (high=bad) for locations in android. They are pretty useless when calculating
