@Harpreet I recommend eclipse with a javafx plugin which lets you design the windows through a GUI
also, while it's fine and good to write a java desktop application, you shouldn't neglect web applications

@Neil Thanks, I just started to learn and develop today. One of my friends who works in govt office is facing a lot of problems to handle and circulate files on a daily basis. So he requested me to deliver him with some sort of private solution.

I am an Android Developer but have no knowledge of desktop development. As my native language is Java for so long so try and learn desktop apps.

For now, I started with Swing.

@KarelG ideally, you would want to build up a substitute "template" object inside a factory, creating instances of that "template" object whenever you need them
that is basically the description of a factory
but you would have to set up that factory for each type you want
a builder is basically the same as a factory... except that it lets you provide the details one by one instead of all of them in one go (it be the construction of the factory or the generation of the object)
lombok provides automatic builders, but not automatic factories
for a few important reasons
abusing the builders that way is not really a bad thing imho
but even then, depending on the structure of the classes he wants instances of, a factory method could be much easier

you have to programmatically instantiate and set all of its properties
javafx is meant to help with that somewhat
they're also likely going to deprecate java swing soon
if you just started, you should definitely consider going with javafx instead

ye, Swing is basically the low level api and JavaFX is the high level api
if you just want to learn how to make desktop applications, JavaFX is the way to go
if you want UI outside of the standard options, you need to use Swing
