I've got the processing of an entire second packet (device already logged in and all infrastructure up and running) down to ~10ms or less so it's not all bad
no the buffers are's slow but the call to the function which debuffers is slow. so I have one more avenue to explore before doing the shooting myself :)

well therein lies the problem. you want to get paid to work to give stuff away for free. it's very very hard to get a gig like that where the company isn't doing something questionable.
the current trend is neutered community editions, and you can't even get the price of the full product without contacting the vendor. lack of transparency, also slightly unethical afaic.
I'm working in spare time on a prototype of a SAAS where the service will be closed source (hosted) but there will be extensive API libraries which will be OSS, and all libraries not core to the business would be open sourced. I think that's reasonably ethical. Idk if I'll ever finish it though and even if I do I suck at marketing and getting funding bcos I don't like ppl :P
now tbf we were talking about Zoe getting a job with a big name company, if she can write what is almost a parser in a day. but there are opportunities to make money from OSS - nopcommerce is one
