I am wondering if this should be published in PECL, opinions welcome.

Do I understand correctly that the extension is intended to assist people who have a code base written in PHP, to upgrade PHP 7.x to PHP 8.x? If so, how does that compare to PHP-Compatibility and Rector?

Other than being an extension :)

Basically, I'm wondering if it offers any functionality that Rector or PHP-Compatibility doesn't offer.

Anyone have a code-standard enforcer for github that they like? I was looking at Codacy, but I need one that allows me to define whitespacing rules.

I put PHP-CS-Fixer in Composer, so I can run it locally and on GHA. I want to know what's going on.

I forget that PHP-CS-Fixer isn't the same as PHP_CodeSniffer

but IIRC, they can work in conjunction

IIRC, one project used CodeSniffer as a git hook locally and in github actions, then PHP-CS-Fixer was used locally to fix issues

I'm asking the person who set it up in that project, maybe they have a public example...
