@ScottW The only reason PC ultrabooks are at all comparable in price to a macbook air is because Intel gives several hundred dollars discount to OEMs who promise to target that form factor. Apple's pricing certainly isn't uniformly high

they still charge a hefty premium for some things, but on quite a few products, if you want comparable specs, you end up paying at least as much if you buy non-Apple stuff

@ScottW So, today we discovered that if you're just after the cheapest of the cheap, and are willing to sacrifice all aspects of your hardware specs, then you get more bang for the buck with a PC than a Mac. That does not come as a surprise to me. However, my experience is that if you want something with reasonable high-end specs, Apple is actually often quite competitive

- duh, I just used RAII, I set up everything in ctor and free in dtor, and I've used overloaded operator() to make it behave like a normal cosine function
