@Borgleader They're basically some (advocates say minimal, detractors say not so minimal) degree of discrimination in favor of members of some minority or other. In theory they're usually only supposed to tip the balance in favor of the minority in cases where all else is equal. In reality, all else is essentially never equal, and there are often targets in terms of outcome (e.g., at least N% of your workforce will be composed of minorities within X years).
