Lots of philosophy and literary fiction has been written on the subject , climbing is only one way to experience the outdoors, but I think everyone should experience the outdoors, regularly, in some manner that appeals to them, in order to understand its immense worth, no activity is without risk, but personal reward is impossible to acknowledge if you are so risk averse that you refuse to even try it.

Also the community of people is just fan-fucking-tastic

A: c++0x std::function as a method argument

std::function<void(void)> is already polymorphic, that's the whole point of it. So those two last snippets will work (as long as the functor bind returns can be called with no arguments, and returns nothing, of course), without changing what you already have.
