You're optimising something but on what seems to be wrong level

@CatPlusPlus If the "blocks" can be jagged, i.e. different sizes each, you can just add a new block in the middle without disrupting the other blocks

@CatPlusPlus the localvector part is O(1) unless it is full. Takes LogN to get there, and if it's full it may have to balance the newly inserted localvector.

@MooingDuck A b-tree is pretty like a self-balancing binary tree, except that it stores a lot of data in one node instead of just one. The interesting part is how it maintains balance.

@MooingDuck That's certainly the most typical use, but there's nothing about a b-tree that forces ordering (or, looked at from a slightly different direction, what you're looking for is ordered -- just ordered by the sequence of insertion instead of some other key).

actually, the more I look at the wiki page, it's not a BTree, it's just an unrolled tree, because the elements in each node are sequential.

If you use Clang with libstdc++, you're still not going to get <regex>

I wouldn't assume all the people working on the front-end have an interest in the library as well.

There's plenty og GPL implementations of regex.

They could grab any number of them, modify them, and ship it with libstdc++

The last couple of as are redundant

a* already means "zero or more" :S

But he wants it to match 0 or more, with only 5 A's at the end

This means, say, the 4th a at the end does not qualify for this regex.

I remember wondering a running a regex until you hit a *, then move to the end and match in reverse until they meet in the middle. Doubt that's a good idea though

although checking for alternatives where one is a "multiple" of the other would catch the pathalogical case listed by wikipedia
