@sehe I only need a certain number of buffers under certain conditions, and I keep a number of buffers around for reuse. If I make the latter number big enough, no buffer will be deleted. Then, nothing crashes. So I already know it's only when I delete buffers.

There's a minimum number of buffers I keep around and a maximum number of buffers, above which messages are dropped (because the tracing can't process them fast enough). When the number oscillates between those two, buffers are sometimes deleted.

I try vey hard to not use anything but a fixed pool of buffers on embedded. Modifying the size of a buffer pool during a run is not somehing I would like to do, especially if the buffers are making their way into/outof interrupt-handlers.

@TonyTheLion That struct will have the strictest alignment between those of of T* or unsigned long long. Assuming that unsigned long long has the same alignment requirements as 64-bit pointers, that makes the whole thing aligned for 64-bit pointers, even on 32-bit systems (32-bit pointers have less strict alignment requirements than 64-bit pointers).
