Windows got me to boot into it the other day because it decided a 32GB page file on my 256GB solid state was a good idea, even though I have 32 GB of ram.

You might also want to spend a bit of time studying Google, and their divisions -- when you apply there, you apply to a particular division, not just the company in general. The division you pick will govern the people who interview you and the kinds of questions they'll tend to ask (e.g., apply to Google Geo, and you'll probably get some stuff about things like 3D graphics).

Apply for search, and they'll ask you about text indexing, and so on.

To many people seem to be on edge once a 'new guy' appears. They seem to want to 'force everyone into the mould' from the onset. There's, however, no way to do that, than by patience, polite conversation and gentle prodding.

@sehe I only force people into a mold -- forcing them into the mould seems like it could be pretty rude (some of that mould is really smelly!)

It's ok to be vigilant. Reserve energies. But not ok to take it out on people who don't immediately get it. which happened, quite a number of times over the last, say, 2 months

Hey, even I overreacted once or twice. I like to think I always explicitely apologized or put things in perspective, at the very least.

@Drise I'm not in the mood to read backlogs. Obviously, the discussion had moved to the more general case.

but the unfortunate fact is, the flamesuit is called for much more often than the "That's OK, I get it that you didn't understand.", so it's not a surprise that it comes pre-prepared.
