@jerith just use a Boolean variable and initially set it false and when you click on any item in your list then set it to true and just do nothing in your custom dialog class. and now in your main UI class just implement dialog.setOnDismissListener() and in this check for that bool variable and do start your intent here

Just checking but CountDownTimers 'onFinish' function should run when it finishes right? Because instead of my timer going for 30 seconds it just completes the 'onFinish' function straight away.
