@oyshee - You can use MySQL with .Net but it's more common to use a MSSQL db with .Net.

I am fetching the pdf file from the database as a byte[], which works, but I cannot directly embed this when using IE due to the 32k limit thing

so I need to save this to the server once it has been retrieved, and the reference the file, instead of the byte[]

so I need to go nother route, sadly

create a new MVC/WebApi controller + route in which you pass an Id which refers to the database row, then read the byte[] from the column and pass it to the ResponseStream. Now embed an image with the url that points to your controller.

^ Yes. Set the correct mime in that response stream and browsers will use their native actions. Download or display, whatever it is capable of.

I think for that u must have a administrator login in Server PC. I don't think it is possible to assign folder permission from client pc even u have administrator rights. @HowlinWulf

Hi all, what is the preferred way to save the search criteria when a user modifies it using the search form and navigates between different pages of the results?

That's just silly. When I see a search result page, I want to be able to copy the URL to a friend and have it work and display the exact same thing.

@JoJo Do you know for a fact that companies near you look for .net certifications when hiring?

I know companies around here don't, so I never bothered (except for one MCP exam I did years ago, because my workplace paid for it)

not 100% but I do see it on occassion on job descriptions. I am in the Northeast US so there is tons of work. but getting (older AND no BS).. I think it might be important to get and really go after it..

I'd try finding some hiring managers or company HR reps and ask them, maybe in The Workplace SE site, maybe they have some insight as to whether they're considered relevant.
