The clone method in Object is tagged "protected". You can't invoke a protected method because that won't compile.

I only feel that the way in which this idea is conveyed is kinda not to the point.

The prerequisite of that statement is that the clone method is invoked by calling super.clone instead of creating an Object instance and calling clone on it. But it may be assuming that everybody knows that a protected method can only be called in the derived class.

That is one JPanel, that is supposed to be added to a TabbedPane later on the JFrame. The names of the components are partially in German, but that is not the problem ;) @TheLittleNaruto

I had code that should prevent to create users with a unique identifier. While the application was tested by coworkers I found them up to three time in the database.

I missed one line to update the database after one operation and with that they were not found by the algorithm checking if they already exist :/
