The main method is basically a method like any other as well. But in addition to that this is the method where the execution will start. So if you have a bigger project with say a Frame and a Utils class whatever, only your Frame class needs a main method, because there should be the starting point.

When creating a .jar manually you will have to add a file that tells, where the main method is placed (in which file), but it is not required in every file

I cannot explain that well ^^'
