It gets called a second time when you click again. So.. you need to determine if you are on the first click, or another.

use one() instead of click() so that it only fires once, on the first click.

jQuery is an artifact from an era when every browser was different and you needed a library to give you ONE way to write code everywhere. Those days are almost gone and you can access the html DOM directly with no more work that using a tool like jquery.

It's a bit confusing becuase you are learning the HTML DOM and jQuery at once, it's it's double the work.

when you have a problem with jQuery and you don't know the basics of JS DOM api then you have real problems. it will only benefit you to learn real DOM first.. then use jQuery if you need/want too.

all jquery gives you are things like .click(...), a shortcut to addEventListener('click', ...)

but HOW clicks get processed. Not jQuery.

and although javascript uses more letters (stupid thing to say) i bet there are javascript editors that contain pretty much all the standard lines of code that you drag and drop when you know what you are doing

well the example of addEventListener i get what your saying from what javascript i have seen 9not much) it seems that it is actually longer and more specific , (hence why it is probably better ) there must be programs that you use when you write code that have pretty much all syntax arguments there to drag and drop to make writing code faster
