Yeah. They are unrelated, but it helps set some limits for the ui elements.

I don't know exactly but;
1. Why would you ever need to do that, and
2. That probably introduces all kinds of variable hoisting issues

3. It doesn't show the true point where the variable was created.

because myVariable is initially generated by an external api over which I don't have any control, it might be generated, it might not.

Looks like you're testing against a parameter that's been passed into a function, correct?

Probably best not to try and overwrite the argument. Just assign it as a local variable and use that. Not sure whether argument reassignment passes back out of the function (and I can't be bothered to test it)

Because it's testing against an argument of that function. It should still work though, it'll just assign the variable bar to that string in whatever scope it's in

Because, obviously, bar is undefined at the time of assignment (unless this is some weird edgecase where everyone else in the room is going to tell me I'm stupid :P )

There's a sublime package that lets you depackage themes which makes it a little less impossible, but it's still not as sexy as being able to open a stylesheet and insert class-based style attributes
