@JMRboosties "I had such crash on Samsung devices even though the activity did use Theme.AppCompat. The root cause was related to weird optimizations on Samsung side:

- if one activity of your app has theme not inherited from Theme.AppCompat
- and it has also `android:launchMode="singleTask"`
- then all the activities that are launched from it will share the same Theme

My solution was just removing android:launchMode="singleTask""

his issue was that he had a rogue activity which didnt follow the same rules as the others

in my case, i have an activity which uses a different theme, but it inherits from the same base theme as the rest of the app uses

too slow man

will have to continue later

the root cause could still be samsung forcing the wrong theme if you are using the singleTask launch mode
