Before I start seriously lookking into it, does anone here know any cool patterns for filtering objects by their properties?

I have timeline on which I display these objects called Moments.

Each Moment has a date, tags, owner, text,... I also have a filter, where users sets which moments she wants to see.

These are displayed in a listView using an adapter, data is stored in db. User can edit the moments, or refresh (soon also push notifications) and the new ones should aslo be displayed.

But the issue I am having is on the backend really, the adapter, the manager

The filter also affects what I display on map, but on map I also display extra content, which is filtered with the same filter

The real issue for me is finding a semi decent way how to do a db adapter, that doesn't have to load everything from db in memory.
