What pattern in PEAA book i should look for if i need to build system that for example manages 5 types of documents? And document is a piece of data with date and owner fields. Access rights for each of these documents is determined from user role in the system (roles are fixed, there are three of them). Does that description makes any sense or maybe matches description of the problem that are already solved?

@Ivan0x32 Wikipedia french is written by other people than those of english. That way I've got a unique research thing, while the others all have the same article lol
It's about a school where they learn to play videogames, everybody goes by their gamer tag in real life too, and they actually act out all the in-game sequences. It's pretty funny too
@HamZa that's not really relevant, though, as it's only about cases where you do need to use "de", and the question was about when you need to use "de" and when you don't

@HamZa I'd say "J'ai acheté de lait" if there was no previous mention of buying milk, and "J'ai acheté du lait" if the other person requested you to buy milk (like "the milk you requested") and never "J'ai acheté lait", but I'm just goign off my French classes which were long ago here

@HamZa basically, a noun in French generally can't go without a "lidwoord" (article), so they use "de" as a "partitive" article, which means you'd translate it to English or Dutch by just leaving the article out

@HamZa If adblock came with a blacklist option rather than a whitelist one (and not one where I have to go and write rules by hand) I would probably run it. With only a whitelist option, I don't really believe in it.

@Jasper Adblock disgusts me by requesting donations for the "work" that goes into it. It's like, dude, fuck you. A lot of work goes into people's sites and you hurt their ability to monetize their work. It's so fucking hypocritical. Not to mention practically no work goes into maintaining adblock.
In the PHP doc it says: Never cast an unknown fraction to integer, as this can sometimes lead to unexpected results. Does $x = (int)($i / 3) fall in this case knowing that $i is always an integer?
@billmalarky I agree. I'd probably run it on a blacklist basis, because it would let me block sites that go overboard (in which case the fault is their own). I don't know if I'd block the ads on youtube, though. They are annoying, but the costs involved in running it are pretty darn high, which sort validates the ads.
@Jasper What's more annoying is that whenever I don't have adblock enabled I get ads about "make up". I mean lolwut ? Has google not realised I'm in love with programming ?
@cheesemacfly Technically, yes, because 4/3 is a fraction, but if you replace one of them with a variable, it's no longer "known" - unless, the source of the $iis known... it's not user provided, is it?
@HamZa They tend to get their data from Google through court, it seems. There has been quite some media coverage on that. The most recent story I remember being the one about Google wanting to publish which information the NSA was gettnig from them, but not being allowed to do so
@cheesemacfly Basically - if you're ever using floats to represent things that need to be cast to ints at the end of the result, then you've possibly done something wrong somewhere, as the ordering of how you do the operation can change the outcome.

@Jasper If you care about getting the result exactly correct, (e.g. for a bank transaction) then you will be using software based maths. You should only use floats if the maths can never be considered precise - e.g. when reading a value from an electricity meter, where the value will have some imprecision to start with, so there is no possible 'exact' result.

Is it possible to have an interface extend Traversable (or an abstract class "implement" it), basically making a contract for the child classes, but not prescribing whether they should implement Iterator or IteratorAggregate?
This is an internal engine interface which cannot be implemented in PHP scripts. Either IteratorAggregate or Iterator must be used instead. When implementing an interface which extends Traversable, make sure to list IteratorAggregate or Iterator before its name in the implements clause.
It doesn't seem to work for abstract classes, though :S
Does anybody know if there is a good reason why PHP doesn't support implementing Traversable (directly, not its child interfaces) in an abstract class?
@ircmaxell I know. It would still be good if you could have an abstract class without deciding whether child classes implement Iterator or IteratorAggregate, much like you can do with an interface by extending Traversable itself
I think my current use case can be done with just an interface, but it still feels off that I wouldn't be able to do the same if I wanted to implement an unrelated method (and thus turn the interface into an abstract class)
