@Jimbo That's actually a property of the forgiving nature of the gzip format. Essentially DEFLATE produces self-tracking chunks (i.e. the stream knows how long it should be) so a decompression algo can produce correct output and ignore any trailing garbage. So you can take the gzipped stream, right-pad it with trailing nuls and manipulate the last byte until you end up with a prime number

@Mr.Alien its not necessarily bad. Like I said, you hopefully elected us on the basis that we know whats best for this site and make these decisions in good faith. I mean. there is no reason why an obvious dupe should live longer than necessary. And in the case where moderators err (yes, they do sometimes. we're still only monke… humans) you can explain in a comment why you think the decision was wrong.
