So, question. I think there's some value in watching for posts with soft hyphens in them. I mean there's this recent weirdness, but I also ran a quick query looking for them and found messes like stackoverflow.com/posts/42722191/revisions (source -> inspect -> behold the  infestation).

Does somebody have a bot that monitors questions and answers (and maybe other things) that would welcome those as patterns to watch for?

It's not really a good SmokeDetector thing.

They can be matched both pre or post html entity conversion, presuming any post-unescape filters actually preserve the character.

For the most part, aside from that user taking advantage of them, the posts I've seen that contain them are effectively non-issues, as nobody really notices. Usually they're e.g. carried over copying + pasting content from web pages and such.

So it's more of a personal curiosity thing plus the occasional nefarious use of them.

@petter there'a a problem with implementing this in FireAlarm, though there might be some kind of hack which I should be able to do. The problem is that FireAlarm uses SwiftChatSE (which has a lot of FireAlarm's code) which has one string which contains the username (it will be used to identify if someone is pinging the bot). The problem is that if I change that to `@bot` then it won't respond to `@fire` pings. I _can_ do some kind of hack to see if a message contains `@bots alive` and reply,
but the problem is the SwiftChatSE isn't made _only_ for FireAlarm (though its like that), so addin…
