In my http server I just register a repeating timer to trigger pcntl_signal_dispatch() every 1000ms in the absence of one of the extensions supporting signals and it's worked fine as far as I can tell.

In a worst case scenario where the signal is received immediately after your dispatch call the user only has to wait 1 second for the shutdown routine to fire up

Normally it's a much more manageable fraction of a second and the overhead of only invoking it once per second is nonexistent

I don't have any special knowledge about the extension but it appears this commit modified pcntl_signal_dispatch() directly in an effort for moar fast (and it only applies to 7). It only has additions so it looks like you could try reverting it locally without any conflicts, build and see if that resolves the issue.

Yeah it's pretty straightforward except for the callback parameters aren't very well-documented. The file system functions in the chobie's 5.5 version aren't totally useful because you can't specify offsets on read/write operations but the ones in our 7 fork do.

The extension was originally written against libuv < 1.0 so the callback parameters in our 7 fork aren't very helpful in the event of an error (because libuv 1.0 changed how errors were reported and that information was lost). We have to go through and update that so that you can actually tell what went wrong when an operation failed.

@Fabor I didn't like Crysis too much. The hypersuit is a nice gimmick but looks much more impressive in the cutscenes than it really is during gameplay. Also, the game felt more like a tech demo. It's too damn short. I was very surprised when the game ended because I thought now it's getting started. /cc @tereško

@Sajad you can do that, but it will only work for PDO then. And you don't need it because if that object having the $dbh gets destroyed the $dbh will get freed anyway.

@tereško Not played it in years so dunno. Read this though "Well on all difficulties enemies have same health so they don't die easier or anything but on delta you can't opperate turrets while driving vehicles, enemies speak korean (no clue what thats really for), you die a lot easier, and the enemies spot you way easier and i think ai is better. Im not sure 100% about all of these but im pretty sure those are the differences."

@Sajad you rarely need to explicitly close the connection. Keeping the connection open across one request to your application is much better than reopening it again and again. If you run it as a job (which runs multiple seconds, like 30+), maybe it is a good idea to close and open the connection multiple times, otherwise, don't bother.

@Epodax I'm one of those mythical windows phone users, I thought I wouldn't use the cortana feature at all, but I ended up talking to her quite a bit to add reminders. The quickest way on the go to remind me of something is to trigger cortana and just say what i want.
