Jira is okay. It more or less does what it's supposed to do, and gives middle-managers pretty charts which is why it gets adopted.

I plan on using a table in my database with a text blob to log most things. I think you have to be careful to not log too much information though, such as anything sensitive.

I run a javascript library on the users browser when they attempt to login that creates a string based on their browser/environment/resolution. Then that value is checked against previous values to see if they are the same. If not then I send the user a notification of the change. If the user is logging in through the automated remember me function then the users saved session data is erased and they're asked to provide their password again.

I store the fingerprint as a hash to make sure we don't actually have the real value stored, so we can't really track our users. And we allow users to…

Now I'm wondering if I should evaluate previous fingerprints difference instead of their equality.

Anon classes should really have used the implemented interface or extended class instead of the class keyword, would have made it obvious that it creates an object, not a class, but unfortunately, it limits them to extend just one class or implement just one interface, but IMO most anon classes implementing multiple things should be real classes.

Because you're saying $this->var, then $var. Only one of those exists

$this->var is that classes' var. $var is limited to the scope of that function

PHP has a large-enough community to warrant its own site; just like Elementary OS, Linux, etc. And it's not really beneficial to just dump every single programming language on one site... Too much crap to sift through when searching.

Then you know that PHP developers who ask questions on SO typically mis-use tags. What's to keep them from bringing Javascript questions to your PHP-only site? What's to keep the Ruby on Rails people out? Do you really want to move questions back to SO all day because they're not actually PHP questions?

Astronomy SE is fine. Academia SE is fine. Cryptography SE is fine. I definitely don't want people asking how to kill Hogger to clutter up a software development site, and game programming is language agnostic, but specialized in very different ways from general development.

Maybe if you went down the road of web development, rather than a specific language, you might get less resistance... but PHP issues belong on SO.

Maybe you could adopt all of the questions about web development that are too broad for SO, like "I'm a complete newb and heard that WebSockets could make allow us to utilize and use instant chat. How to do with PHP?"

@Ghedipunk That's a good idea, but there was this message on the proposal webpage that said we must create proposals only for experts - and those kinds of questions aren't asked by experts, i would assume.

Experts don't ask why they're getting an illegal array offset when they're doing the following, either:
$offset = array(1);
...
much later
...
$myArray[$offset];

But that's a perfectly valid (and often asked, with many, many duplicates) question on SO.
