@Renai meta redirects are slower than headers so the latter will be better.. header('Location: errorpage.php'); check if the session variable exists, if not redirect :D

there maybe more on this.. maybe a better simpler and more effective way.. so hang around and the pros will wake up :D

@Renai but what I would recommend is creating a session_start at the top of every page.

when the user logs in create a session variable say $_SESSION['username'] = 'myname'

i pass the user name variable to the session ?

else destroy the session. Then do a check on every page that requires the user to be logged in.. check if that variable exists.. if yes, do nothing (not necessary - if u have multiple user levels). If not do a redirect.

@Renai session_start is required where ever the session variable needs to be checked. session_start is like something that says ' Hey I'm gonna be using sessions here fetch all my available session variables to this page too.'

well, if you are trying to log into their system remotely, you can only do it the way they've allowed

you can't just do it anyway you want

usually, you have to post some username/password to some url

and it'll return you some code telling you if it's successful or not

I'm moderate in JS, and will continue to enhance my skill in it; I only use it as for client-side purposes (yeah,I know about node.js, but haven't looked into it much); I've never really been interested in ruby (maybe because I haven't researched about it)
